Tuesday 7th Sept - 6/9/2004 by Gynga
Usual Tuesday session, few drills and a game. Depends how many people turn up doesn't it.
Tuesday 24th August - 23/8/2004 by Gynga
Usual practice at Wide Lane, parking may be an issue we don't know yet. Another couple of new drills followed by a game to prepare for Mixed Nationals at the weekend.
Sunday 22nd August - 19/8/2004 by Gynga
No practice this Sunday as we are playing at Open Nationals.
Tuesday 17th August - 16/8/2004 by Gynga
Preparations for Nationals. More throwing to ensure we don't throw away, more catching to ensure we don't drop. Games at the end to get us ready to play.
Sunday 15th August - 16/8/2004 by Gynga
Some more new drills to practice our throwing to get ready for nationals. Working up from short throws to longer lead passes. Game to finish.
Sunday 1st August - 22/7/2004 by Gynga
There is no training this sunday. Have a rest and come back ready to work up to winning loads at Nationals.
Tuesday 20th July - 19/7/2004 by Gynga
Something gentle for those who played at the weekend since they all hurt lots. The usual focus on throwing, and some vertical cutting drills just for Loz. We will finish off with several sprints to Bristol and back followed by bench pressing some cars.
Sunday 18th July - 14/7/2004 by Gynga
No practice today as we are playing at Mixed Tour 4 in Wetherby. See ya on Tuesday.
Tuesday 13th July - 12/7/2004 by Gynga
We shall be continuing the deep throwing drills we were running on Sunday, this time varying the cuts to give us some variety. I expect there will be some fitness work too followed by a game.
Sunday 11th July - 8/7/2004 by Gynga
Throwing work, long throw work leading to huck practice. Some fitness work and then some games. Not too sure which pitch we will be on so keep an eye out.
Tuesday 6th July - 5/7/2004 by Gynga
2 weeks to go until the final Mixed Tour event so plenty of time to prepare. Similar session to last week, some throwing and catching practice followed by a longer game. Maybe this week Rob's tiny little legs won't hurt so much and he will be able to run properly.
Sunday 4th July - 1/7/2004 by Gynga
No practice today as we are at BritOpen in Eastbourne.
Tuesday 29th June - 28/06/2004 by Gynga
After a hard weekend in Edinburgh I think we will be having a gentler practice this week to allow us to recover. Getting out and running will certainly help those sore legs and loosten you up. I think we will do some throwing practice to warm up and then play a game. And hopefully retire to the pub.
Sunday 27th June - 24/06/2004 by Gynga
No Practice due to two teams going to Open Tour 4 in Edinburgh.
Tuesday 22nd June - 21/06/2004 by Gynga
Due to a porr turnout on Sunday we will be continuing the flat throwing exercises and focusing on throwing secure passes in the wind. Hopefully some more zone defence work.
Sunday 20th June - 16/06/2004 by Gynga
More flat thorwing practice, and extending this to huck practice as Stu has requested it. With the changeable weather we will recap our zone defence also.
Tuesday 15th June - 14/06/2004 by Gynga
We will be focusing on percentage passes and completing flat throws. Flat throws are far more sable in the wind and so are more likely to be caught.
Sunday 13th June - 11/06/2004 by Gynga
No practice due to Bournemouth BeachFest.
Thursday 10th June - 7/6/2004 by Gynga
More break force practice, and probably some huck work. However do watch this space as practices are about to move to Tuesday nights, possibly starting this week. Why?? Coz there are beach demo games in Bournemouth that we have been invited to on Thursays.
Sunday 6th June - 4/6/2004 by Gynga
No Practice as we are at Mixed Tour 3 in Swindon.
Thursday 3rd June - 01/05/2004 by Gynga
Lots of throwing practice, the basics we covered long ago have got progressivly worse. A focused session on valuing the disc won't do us any harm. Expect a "30 of each throw" drill, especially flat throws.
Sunday 30th May - 28/5/2004 by Gynga
No practice today as we are competing at Open Tour 3 in Mansfield.
Thursday 27th May - 25/5/2004 by Gynga
Preparation for Open Tour 3. Somewhat dependant on the physical state of our players. I think the second team could benefit from some offence discipline drills. Then again so could the first team :)
Sunday 23rd May - 20/5/2004 by Gynga
No practice as we are away at Mixed Tour 2 in Bakewell.
Thursday 20th May - 17/5/2004 by Gynga
We will be practicing our offence plays using our ladies as much as possible in preparation for the upcoming mixed tournament. This includes some endzone work. In the freakish event of wind we will take the opportunity to practice zone - but it doesn't look likely does it :) If we have time we shall do some more line pass work.
Sunday 16th May - 13/5/2004 by Gynga
We are at Tour 2 so no practice this Sunday.
Thursday 13th May - 9/5/2004 by Gynga
A tour tournament at the weekend, so we will be entering final preparation stages for this. It would be great to see everyone who is playing at the weekend at this practice.
A bit more work on valuing the disc is needed, plus some work on our Junk - not sure we will get to cover this if it isn't windy.
As much play as possible is the plan.
Sunday 9th May - 8/5/2004 by Gynga
Nothing special planned at the moment, we will be try to ensure we keep possesion when on offence as much as possible. A few drills to keep us active, and a long game to finish off with to see who has the determination to win. Then a few beers in the bar!
Thursday 6th May - 5/5/2004 by Gynga
We shall be covering the endzone plays, running some drills to practice them and learning how to call these plays in a game. A recap for those who were there on Sunday.
We shall also try to practice cutting against line traps and us both these skills in a game at the end.
Sunday 2nd May - 30/4/2004 by Gynga
Without the skunks 1st team around we should be able to do something productive :) We will be looking at our zone defence for a bit and then going over endzone plays. I suggest everyone looks at the articles page on zone defence, we haven't practiced it for a while and it certainly won't hurt to recap.
Thursday 29th Apr - 26/4/2004 by Gynga
More practice for the skunks first team. More work on the huck drills and plays. We shall even try to run through our offence plays too as people seem to be a little rusty - particularly with the endzone drills.
Sunday 26th Apr - 23/4/2004 by Gynga
Carrying on from Thursdays session we will be doing some more aggressive throwing and catching drills. I intend to get round to working on hucks and working it into our game.

With the student finals coming up I expect the skunks will want to practice playing together.
Thursday 22nd Apr - 19/4/2004 by Gynga
We will be looking at our offence against man defence, how to cut and when to cut. This will involve advise about how to play man defence as well. I also intend to look at huck plays.
Thursday 15th Apr - 13/4/2004 by Gynga
We have another tournament to prepare for, and playing mixed ultimate is slightly different to open ultimate. We shall run over these differences for those that don't already know.
Other than that this session will not be focusing on anything new. Just practice of what we should already know.
Thursday 8th Apr - 4/4/2004 by Gynga
Cancelled due to the Uni being closed.
Sunday 11th is also cancelled as nobody is around.
Thursday 1st Apr - 28/3/2004 by Gynga
Some endzone play practice just to emphasise it in our minds. I will have announced the team lists before thursday and I intend to have people practice in their teams so they can get a feel for how their team plays. This relies on enough players turning up to make it even groups, we shall see.
Everyone going to T1 start focusing on doing something great, picture that perfect catch in the endzone, picture that layout D, picture the great high catch, pitcure the best throw you have ever done straight into your team mates hands. It makes the difference, let's do it. Yeah Nike!
Sunday 28th Mar - 26/3/2004 by Gynga
More offence work. Bit more practice needed on stack plays to make it nice and fluid. Will hopefully get time for a look at horizontal offences - we won't really be playing this in the tour but it would be nice to know what the opposition might do. Sunday's practice will be a longer session, so bring lunch with you.
Thursday 25th Mar - 21/3/2004 by Gynga
Due to poor turnout on Sunday it appears we will be repeating the session on Thursday. More standard stack plays, specifically focusing on working the disc into the endzone. This is usually the hardest part of the field since everything is compressed into a smaller area.
Sunday 21st Mar - 21/3/2004 by Gynga
Continuation of the stack offences already learnt, plus some new ones - specifically targeted at endzone plays.
Thursday 18th Mar - 18/3/2004 by Gynga
Due to Sunday's practice being cancelled we will be following the Sunday plan on Thursday. Stack offence drills and practice.
Sunday 14th Mar - 12/3/2004 by Gynga
The first of the offence sessions, we will be covering the basic pull plays. Running through them in drills and then applying them in games. The article on general offence has some key points which will help you with these offence plays.
Thursday 11th Mar - 7/3/2004 by Gynga
Now that we have 2 zone defences under our belts we will be using them in game situations. We will try to play some longer games where the defensive team can choose the defence they are going to play - let's hope it is a bit windy. If you are lucky we might well finish with some sprints :)
Sunday 7th Mar - 5/3/2004 by Gynga
Time to move onto the next defence, standard zone. No article on the website yet but watch this space. Please turn up on time and bring warm clothing as we will be explaining the zone in detail.
Thursday 4th Mar - 2/3/2004 by Gynga
We shall be continuing the work we put in on Sunday, especially on the offensive side of 1-3-3 zone. We didn't get as many scores as I would have liked to see.
Let us not forget the last 3 weeks work of valuing the disc and making sure every pass completes, there were many silly drops on Sunday due to poor throws or lack of concerntration - we can stop these as I have seen everyone do it, so let's make sure we do and have a much better practice because of it.
Sunday 29th Feb - 29/2/2004 by Gynga
Since we missed out on Thursday, we shall be covering 1-3-3 zone in lots of detail. Please ensure you have read the articles on the website as they will give you some valuable background.
We will be doing the 5 pulls drill to practice this defence since it focuses on the task in hand without wasting time with scoring points. Plus you always get to play offence into the wind :)
Thursday 26th Feb - 25/2/2004 by Gynga
It is time to start thinking about the coming season and playing other teams. We need to start building our skills towards the offences and defences we want to play.
As such tonight we will be practicing 1-3-3 zone, please read the articles pages to find out how we play it. Also bring warm clothes as there will be a bit of standing around at the beginning before we warm up.
Thursday 19th Feb - 17/2/2004 by Gynga
We will be moving onto the next set of throwing and catching drills to build on what we should have learnt by now :)
There will be a different game drill this week, and it will certainly challenge your endurance. The drill is called Make-and-Take those who came to Monday nights last year will remember this, but a description will be on the drills page later.
Sunday 15th Feb - 14/2/2004 by Gynga
After 2 successful sessions focusing on safe passes and catching we are able to progress this to making more adventurous throws whilst still achieving high completion rates. If the rates drop again we simply return to the basics.
There are several more game based drills to do and we will be attempting them.
I shall also be introducing some different throwing and catching drills.
With luck everybody is concerntrating on their own fitness and ensuring they are ready for the start of the season - am I right?
Thursday 12th Feb - 9/2/2004 by Gynga
We will be building on the basic skills we were perfecting on Sunday. These skills will continue to be a focus for some time as they are so key to every part of the game.
We will start to build them into more advanced drills in order to expand our offensive game.
With luck, we should be able to fit in some games too. I have several games based drills which focus on possesion.
This is all assuming that the DSR don't cancel again!!
Sunday 8th Feb - 6/2/2004 by Gynga
Sundays training session is an extended practice so we should be able to get loads done. We will be doing the drills planned for Thursday plus some exercises to use the skills in a game situation. We will try to focus on keeping possesion at all times. By always keeping the disc we can always score. By always scoring when we get the disc we will be applying lots of pressure to the opposition making the game easier for us.
Thursday 5th Feb - 1/2/2004 by Gynga
Back to Basics!!
Throwing and catching, the basis of any offence. If you can throw and catch without thinking about it then everything else is easier because you can concentrate on it.
The 1st team suffered from problems with the basics on Sunday, it won't be happening again. Will it!?
Lots of drills working on throwing and catching, try to catch the disc in a variety of ways; different hand on top, pancake, hands on edges, left hand, right hand - you do it in a game so drill it at practice.
